"Моей первой настоящей подругой была Оля Григорович-Барская, дочь ближайших друзей моих родителей, деливших с нами перипетии беженской жизни в конце и после войны – сначала в Австрии, затем в Германии.
...замечательный дом в Монтерее, в котором мы жили около трех лет в 1950-е годы вместе с двумя другими русскими семьями (одной из них были Григоровичи-Барские) ...В начале 1950-х в Монтерее жило немало русских – преподавателей Военной школы с их семьями. Они построили там деревянную православную церковь; иконостас расписал Григорович-Барский (дядя Кот), хороший художник. Появилась и приходская школа, та самая, где преподавали наши отцы и куда мы с Олечкой ходили; мы стали русскими скаутами и вообще жили детской, а затем подростковой, эмигрантской жизнью. Когда мы переселились в тот чудесный дом, о котором я пишу в главе о матери, каждая семья заняла по этажу. Как и в военном поселке, мать Олечки, тетя Мара, присматривала за мной и моим младшим братом после школы и готовила нам ужин. Наша совместная жизнь, продолжавшаяся больше десяти лет, кончилась в 1955 году, когда Барские уехали в Вашингтон, где Кот получил работу на «Голосе Америки»; он обрел известность среди интеллигенции, слушавшей его передачи: в 1970-е годы мне говорили об этом мои знакомые в Советском Союзе. Муж - геолог д-р Георгий Антонович Рабчевский (1936-2005). Состоял в переписке в советским писателем-фантастом Иваном Ефремовым.
"Моя жена Ольга была польщена, узнав, что вы упоминаете её в письме. Я бы не назвал её спортсменкой, но она любит бывать на открытом воздухе, и с ней хорошо ходить в походы. Особенно ей нравится спелеотуризм (лазание по пещерам) при условии, если кто-то находится рядом. Также она любит путешествовать. Всего несколько лет назад она работала гидом на выставке американского графического искусства в СССР. После она посетила Кашмир (в Индии) и несколько европейских стран" [43].

NIKITA GRIGOROVICH-BARSKY, 64 "Nick" Died on September 9, 2009 in Washington, DC of heart failure. Nick was born in Austria to Constantine and Marina Grigorovich-Barsky. They immigrated to the U.S. in 1947 and he graduated from the University of Maryland. In 1972, he joined the Exhibits Division of USIA. While posted in Japan, he married Yoko Ohtsuki. They traveled widely under Foreign Service assignments. He retired in Bethesda in 2000. Nick is survived by his wife of 33 years, Yoko; mother, Marina; daughter, Maya, and son, Alexander. Services will be held Sunday, September 13, 2 p.m. at the Russian Orthodox Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, 4001 17th St., N.W., Washington, DC 20011. SCARSDALE, N.Y., July 1-- Mrs. Carol Anne Christie, daugther of Mr. and Mrs. Alan Thomas Christie, was married here this afternoon to Gleb Boris Grigorovich-Barsky, son of Mr. and Mrs. Boris Grigorovich-Barsky of Old Bethpage, L.I.
Gleb Grigorovich-Barsky, 73, born in Ljubljana, Slovenia died peacefully on Sept. 24, 2014 surrounded by his family. His father, Boris, and mother, Maria, predecease him. Gleb is survived by his wife, Rosemary, and his sons, Jason and wife Jennifer, and Jeffery and wife Lisa. He is also survived by his brother Peter and wife Jeannette, and sisters, Natalia and husband Frank, and Tania and husband Glenn, and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. A memorial service will be held on Sunday Sept. 28 at 2pm at St. Margaret of Scotland Anglican Church, Conway, NH. Karen Barsky O’Connor, age 76, of Sterling, VA passed away on December 31, 2021 at home surrounded by her family. Karen was born September 8, 1945 to Cyril and Elsie Barsky in Detroit, MI. After graduating from Washington-Lee High School in 1963, Karen went on to work for the CIA for most of her career teaching effective writing, briefing techniques and instructional development.
In 1973, she met James (JJ) O’Connor, the love of her life. Happily married for 43 years, they shared an unwavering love and devotion. Karen loved JJ and her family fiercely and enjoyed nothing more than spending time with them, spoiling her nephews and grandchildren as much as possible. She was truly a special person, and it is no exaggeration to say that this world is a better place for her having lived in It. She brought light and joy into the lives of everyone she met. Her exuberance, joy, and love of life was contagious. The perpetual optimism she radiated was a source of comfort and inspiration to all who were blessed to know her. Yet her joyous disposition was only one of the many, many aspects of her personality that made her special; she was also remarkably kind and generous, a shining example of Christian virtue. The seeds of goodness that she sowed will forever blossom in our hearts.
Karen is predeceased by her parents and her nephews, James and Keith Anderson. She is survived by her husband, James (JJ) O’Connor; her sister Gretchen Anderson (Bruce) and nephews Eric and Peter; stepson Kevin O’Connor (Karen) and grandchildren Lauren and Ryan; and stepson Chris O’Connor.
A private service with her family will be held at Columbia Gardens Cemetery on Friday, January 7, 2022.
